Our Story

Cloovy’s co-founders are car enthusiasts who knew that when they bought used cars from dealerships, a significant part of their sticker price was going directly to mark-ups that dealers tacked on to vehicles they had purchased at auction.

Seeing the many ways that online shopping had revolutionized the consumer experience, they established Cloovy as a licensed used car dealer that serves as a concierge between ordinary consumers and the cars sold at dealer-exclusive, wholesale auctions.

By eliminating overhead and giving customers access to dealer-exclusive auctions, Cloovy offers customers a vast selection, wholesale prices, and a trove of information that dealerships typically keep to themselves—all with the convenience of shopping from home.

Co-founder

Noah Messing

Noah is an attorney and lecturer at Yale Law School, and an enthusiastic driver. He's talked about starting a modern, online auction-based used car dealership for years, and was incredibly excited when the opportunity to get Cloovy® off the ground came along. He drives an SUV to shuttle his two kids around, although he's often happier driving his wife's MINI Cooper.

Dennis Owrutsky

Dennis is a graduate of Cornell University and Yale Law School. He co-founded Cloovy®, recognizing that his technical abilities and coding expertise could help simplify, modernize, and even add a jolt of electricity to the used car industry. These days, Dennis’s main vehicle is the Quiet Car on Amtrak.

CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Ryan Westerman

Ryan runs our data and analytics operations—he’s the guy who makes sure we can screen out bad cars, win auctions, and keep our prices low. In addition to his Cloovy® duties, Ryan is finishing his master’s degree in computer science at the University of Texas. He enjoys using code to bring new ideas to life, especially when he gets to teach machines to learn. An avid traveler, Ryan daydreams about converting a Dodge Sprinter into a mobile base camp to explore the U.S.

DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Chloe Nwangwu

Chloe is a conflict resolution specialist who helps people build bridges, forge relationships, and deepen empathic understanding. She has lived, worked, and studied in several countries—including two different war zones. Her goal is to create a user experience that puts the unique needs of every customer first. Her dream car is a Tesla X.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Carrie Reeves

Carrie’s results-focused management style is uniquely informed by her work as a project manager for non-profit organizations and her experience directing operations for three successful small businesses. She proceeds from the knowledge that good results always come by way of understanding and responding to each customer's specific needs. Her dream car is an all-wheel-drive Toyota Prius.

CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER

Colson Lin

Colson is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Yale Law School. He is a writer with extensive experience in graphic design, marketing, and advertising. His dream car is a 1966 Pontiac GTO.

DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING

Ardyn Allessie

Ardyn graduated from Trinity College, majoring in cultural anthropology. Her dad always said “go big or go home,” so he taught her to drive in an army tank—well, a Nissan Armada, same thing! Once you can parallel park that, you’re good to go.

Josh Jacobs

Josh is a UX designer based in Atlanta. In his free time, he enjoys making beautiful websites—like this one—using Webflow. His dream car is a Corvette Stingray.
